jts: Most definitely needs a browsing ability with the 'Load'. I try to save all my song data in each song's folder, most of the time. Also if it saved the gram files in the bmx/bmw would be GREAT! ;) It's an interesting machine, though. I don't completely understand it yet, but I like what I've heard from it. |

rohka: Wow! How about a morphophonological peer controller for Rectal Anarchy next... :) |

intoxicated: Here is a little snippet i made using the improv machine:
http://buzzmusic.wipe-records.org/index.php?id=5&action=download&songid=286
It is very short as it seems i cannot save the .gram files on my WinME system at home. (It worked on XP at work though) |

intoxicated: It seems like i get the same 'random' sequences selected if i let it run. Perhaps a proper random function is not used? It would be good to have at least the option to use a 'more random', random generator if you see what i mean... :). Anyway i find more and more uses for this machine, excellent... |

thOke: Erm ... i just realized, that the midi number specification does not match the notes produced by the improv machine (this would have been nice). So - still exploring regularities. |

thOke: Thanks Kodream!
Interesting machine ... i see horrible things coming from all those buzz weirdos. ;-)
Anyway, the explanation of the composition rules is a little short imo.
I made some small test files. http://tho.ke.bei.t-online.de/ImprovTest1.zip
Place the gram files into your main Buzz folder , then load the bmw file and afterwards load the gram files into the improv machine. (why are the compositions not saved with the bmx/bmw files? )
1.) Use Test S.gram with ImprovTest1.bmw. I simply sequenced a few notes (numbers corresponding to the midi standard) as a 'production' for the letter S.
2.) Load Test A B.gram into the same bmw. S is now devided into two 'productions' - A and B, both made with a few (midi-)notes.
3.) Open ImprovCutOffTest.bmw and load CutOffTest.gram. Here the improv machine controls infector's cutoff in two patterns (productions) A and B, rising and falling according to the given numbers.
Very basic examples, but they helped me starting with this improv machine. |

intoxicated: Hmm yes - nice stuff... So does each defined symbol in apattern correspond to a tick in buzz then? It would be useful for the 'load' button to open the buzz dir for browsing the .gram files if no file name is specified. I can see this machine having interesting uses for rhythm programming but i might find it a bit tedious to define complex melodies as symbols and note numbers. Many thanks! You done some linguistics then maybe? |

kmkrebs: File load / save is munged for me. Saving and then trying to load the saved file gives me different results. Trying to load after re-loading the bmx I get a 'can't find file' error. Also, by default it's saving them to my documents & settings folder. (running 2000pro) |

mute: I'd like to see more docs as well, or a demo w/ a specified .gram file.. i'm not sure how the actual triggering of events occurs.. i understand the values/assignments/grammar ... just not clear on the procedure or progression of how they occur when triggered.
cheers kodream =]
hamster/joachim : by default it loads and saves your files from your Buzz path eg: C:\Buzz, so c:\Buzz\mute.gram will load/save just by typing mute.gram |

jmmcd: Yesssss! good man kodream. the power of peer strikes again! i have wanted algorithimic/generative machines for ages - since i saw koan (www.sseyo.com) in fact - this machine is brilliant.
(now let's send brian eno and noam chomsky cd's with buzz-installs;-) |

jts: Definitely an interesting machine. A demo would definitely help me to realize what the hell's going on with it, though. ;) |

davide: If you keep gram files in buzz folder typing just"sixteen.gram" also should work.
shall come reviews and tutorials anyway, impressive yet obscure machine |

hamsteralliance: Joachim: You must manually type the path to the sixteen.gram file. |

Joachim: Interesting. hmm the Load button doesn't work. A little tutorial would be nice, now that the demo file cannot be loaded. |

highsc0re: Very cool.
deeper into the peer dimension.
just had a preliminary messaround, and got a nice little grammar going.
i think i need more detail as to how this thing handles rhythm. more documentation would really be a big help, especially with a freaky machine like this one.
welcome to buzz, that`s a hell of a debut.
he it acyclic definite clause grammar!
