improved C1/mC-1 (GUI???)
I think this is the point where we could really improve the Buzz interface and give it some fruity comfort :) We actually don't need the source of Buzz, we need just more control machines :)Imagine one machine with lots of slider, triggers and note rows that can be assigned to anywhere in the current setup and then you could do random, LFO or whatever with the slider or auto-chords with the notes... you could join together all the parameters you need and control them with a cool GUI or from just 1 machine... When Jeskola released Buzz1.2 with C1 I thought a new Buzz dimension had begun, but no one wrote a similar thing - only Cyan his mC-1 for notes, and it seems the only thing people like this mahine for is that it adds MIDI input... strange, don't you see the GIANT OPTIONS...?

2001-11-01: I HATE PRETTY GUI's they cloud my artistic mood and make creation seem more like a game instead of an art by clatter
2001-11-01: Can the C1 interface play notes _between_ ticks? Then a whole new piano roll editor would be possible, or even to link freebase to this interface, if someone repatrifies Arguru to the buzz scene (would cookies help?). - dream -
I am outside of the buzz plugin writing thing, because i only have gcc, which is a great compiler except for that it cannot link its C++ objects with microsoft compiled ones. Maybe others who want to help are in the same situation? Then it would help if someone with VC made a xC1 machine that has a ANSI-C interface to an external GUI/sequencer thing, that could be developed on GCC. by usr
2001-11-01: i actually was sort of doing something similar to the idea of grouping parameters together. by CyanPhase
2001-11-01: sounds interesting Cyan..will anything come of it? by phunktion
2001-11-01: could you make an API so that others could code sequencers/contoller for the machine? by phunktion
2001-11-02: i wanted to post the following a second ago when i saw that u wrote a quite similar suggestion here. my posting is:
"perfect c1" or "what way composing could work in buzz2/xp if it will ever come out"
because the way to compose in buzz isnt very comfortable for creating polyphonic melodies, the basic idea of the c1 (namely: beeing able to see all notes at the same time like in old-style trackers; centralization of controls; seperating the generatorplug-ins from the melodies, so that u can assign the same melody easily to every synth) is great.
but there is much space for improvements. for one thing it would be great to be able to control sample machines like "mathilde tracker" by that new c1 as well. that doesnt work currently.
that "c1 version2.0" could also solve the old tracker problem of the fixed note/tick-resolution. imagine to have a "+"-symbol beside every "tick". clicking on that plus expands that tick and offers x further ticks.(like in windows explorer when clicking on a plus beside a folder and x subfolders occur.) the number of "subticks" can be set in the configurationmenu of the "c1 version2". now everyone who is a little bit informed about the architecture of buzz would say: "that's impossible! the ticks are an elementary unit in buzz and u are not able to manipulate that with a plugin!". i think that i got a "solution" for that problem: u'll just have to go the other way around. the machine wont really show subticks. it will hide ticks. for instance when changing the subticks from 0 to 3 the song has to be expanded (similar to fasttracker). after every tick 3 further ticks have to be added and the speed has to be increased accordingly to keep the original speed. (easily done in increasing the tpb.)
another nice new feature would be to have the markings beside the ticks variable. so that u are not "forced" or better "suggested" to use 4 on 4 beats. instead u by moon.god
2001-11-02: i was also thinking about the potential of the c1 like u and wanted to post a seperate article about that here when i saw your text. so i will post my text as a comment to yours and not as a seperate one:
