A machine that does strings would be nice even though it would probably be nearly impossible to program.

2002-05-04: actually, I had an idea for a nifty sample-based string generator. I know, you're going to say use matilde tracker or xs 1, but bear with me. You take 3 contrasting string samples --say an airy one, a smooth one, and a dry, small ensemble one, and you have them each on their own fader. Then you have a sample of an arco attack which you can fade in and out with another slider. Finally, use string multisamples and crossfaded loops and you could have a very cool string machine that would save us a lot of headaches (if you've ever done sampled strings on matilde, you know what I'm saying).
Anyway, maybe it would sound bad, but I'd love to see something like that. by lykwydchykyn
